The Great Commission
Matthew 28:18-20: And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
The Great Commandment
Mark 12:29–31: Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
We see these two teachings come to life in John 15:3-5, 7-8, 12-13
“Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing…
…If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples…
…This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
These teachings are the foundation of the Connect, Grow, Serve, Together vision and values of Journey Church.
OUR HISTORY
In December 2009, God led a group of dedicated believers to Gordonsville to begin a Sunday evening Bible study, holding prayer walks and community outreach events that eventually lead to our first service at the old Christian Church in downtown Gordonsville. After a brief time meeting at a local elementary school, we settled just outside of Gordonsville for over a decade in a building that is now an antique store. Currently, we hold services at 13286 James Madison Highway, Orange, VA 22960. God has been faithful to Journey Church and has done more than we could have ever imagined. And, we believe He is just getting started! Join us on this beautiful journey of following Jesus.

Connecting with God is about having a personal relationship with Jesus. Salvation is essential to connecting with God. We want to be a place where you can begin learning to connect with God day by day, moment by moment and breath by breath.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
It is a genuine connection to Jesus that begins to feed and grow our faith. Faith in Christ was never intended to be done alone. We grow best when we grow together. Healthy growth that strengthens our faith doesn't happen by itself. At Journey Church, we believe being connected with others in a small group studying the word of God is essential to a growing faith.

The life and faith we experience in Jesus lead us to love others the way we have been loved. Jesus laid his life down for us. Serving others with our lives is how we show His love in this world. There is a place for you to serve at Journey Church and in the surrounding communities!
